Is the Electoral College Still a Viable Determinant Never in American history was the Electoral College so "visible" to the voting public than in the year 2000 Presidential election. The results on the election - which were nearly two months in determination - were not fully decided until the U.S. Supreme Court finally gave the nod to George W. Bush.
