Social Security and the Prevention or Reduction of Poverty
Among matters of domestic public policy, the issue of Social Security benefits is one that has consistently been crucial to issues of poverty and social welfare for over 70 years.But in recent years, the trend in political debate has been consistently a perceived need for welfare reform, including a revamping of benefits provided by the Social Security Administration. The question is, however, is the Social Security benefit an effective anti-poverty tool, or could it be improved?
