The Sarcophagus of Santa Maria Antiqua and the Last Judgment Carved by Gislebertus
This paper compares two art works, both Christian in inspiration, the Sarcophagus of Santa Maria Antiqua found in 1901 and the Last judgment carved by Gislebertus at Laszare Athedral at Autun in the twelfth century, two works that have not only represented an ancient artistic heritage but have also been important in the development of Christianity and in how Christians view themselves and their relation to the ancient world today.
