The basic plot revolves her desire to be white and her prayer that her eyes will turn blue so that she will be beautiful as opposed to alienated from the society. However, The Bluest Eye is also examination of the family, poverty, personal strength, self-definition and the desire of every human being to fit into the society and be a valuable human being. Suitable only for a basic class.
