The Question of Self in The Immoralist and Their Eyes Were Watching God.
In this paper, two novels are discussed. The first part responds to questions about the character of Michel in Andre Gide's The Immoralist. The second part of this paper responds to questions about the relationship of Tea Cake and Janie in Nora Zeale Hurston's Their Eyes Were Watching God.
