Correctional Philosophy and Crime: An Analysis of Rehabilitation
This ten-page undergraduate paper examines correctional policies and the value of rehabilitation. The author notes that the recent trend towards harsh sentencing and the increasing use of capital punishment have primarily been due to political posturing and to the general public’s frustration that nothing the government does seems to prove effective in reducing crime. Until rehabilitation advocates can make a stronger case for rehabilitation, the present trend towards tougher sentencing and increased use of the death penalty will continue.
