An Analysis of John Grierson: A Documentary Film, Educational Philosophy, and Historical Perspective in Filmmaking
This paper will seek to analyze the documentary filmmaker John Grierson. By making a philosophical understanding of Grierson's Hegelian thought, we can understand why he chose to connect the people with the society that they lived in. He did this through the medium of documentary film. By pioneering this new kind of filming, Grierson broke down barriers between what was real, and what was drama or fictionally based.
