From the earliest times man has surrounded himself with music. His simplest instrument was his voice, with which he could communicate with other men, but as society developed so did a variety of musical instruments. Experimentation and development of musical instruments continued through time and found its way into the Greek culture. Pythagoras, who lived about 500 B.C., began the first experiments with relationships between various musical tones (Jackson 3).
