This paper is written about medicalization of illness and health, social norms and deviance have come to be defined by medicine, without giving due consideration to the backdrop of social order, healing, and suffering that have a non-biomedical connotation. (Author B) Via epidemiologist, illness and health are being increasingly analyzed in terms of non-biological terms, that is on changing lifestyles to address health concerns. (Author C) A definition of health from the functional and experiential viewpoint, including its social basis, has not been the foundation of health policies in America. (Author D) With focus shifting to the ideology of 'individual responsibility', there is reordering of expectations and diversion from social causation of disease.
