In the article, Increasing Perceptions of Self-Worth in Preadolescents Diagnosed With ADHD, the authors discuss the research they performed in implementing an empowerment program with preadolescents who had been diagnosed with ADHD. The participants of the intervention group showed increased social acceptance, athletic competence, perceived physical appearance, and self-esteem. (Frame, Kelly, & Bailey, 2003, p. 225) The participants assigned to the control group did not show this increase.
