This paper discusses wisdom. Wisdom is the accumulation of philosophic or scientific learning. If only it were that simple. The concept of wisdom has been a topic of philosophical contemplation for thousands of years. Still the question remains - How can so many great thinkers and philosophers claim wisdom and yet agree on so little? This is a question both philosophical and ethical, and it is a question wrought of dichotomy. Wisdom is contemplative in that it values proper ends, and at the same time engages the will of the individual. Wisdom seeks a perspective, which will give it distance from the daily routine of life, yet it involves itself in the politics of the world.
