This paper explains the flaws in a recent new bill introduced by Deborah Ortiz regarding the banning of all soft-drink sales in schools as a means of combating childhood obesity. The paper examines the research behind the bill, and also addresses concerns regarding accountability, measurement of success levels, suggests an alternate model of operation and concludes with recommendations for amendments.
