The potential medical uses for marijuana have been investigated – and documented – for years. Despite the fact that marijuana is recognized to be effective in treating a number of serious conditions, however, its use under controlled conditions, with a doctor’s approval and supervision, remains opposed by the federal government – although several states have in recent years passed laws legalizing marijuana for medical purposes. This paper outlines a research proposal to determine if a sample population in Southern California believes that marijuana should be legalized for medical purposes.
