Examining the Transition from a Local Systems Application to an Internet Systems Application.
In December of 2001, the Royal Borough of Notlington Library Service decided to implement an application that would best allow for a more efficient form of catalogue access on their networked computers. This system would improve functionality by allowing networked PCs to access a database that would define and describe the available resources within the Notlington library system, including select publication information and whether a specific source is available in the library. There is currently a question of moving this system to an online forum that would be outside of the local library network. This paper assesses the initial application and recommends transitional techniques that would allow the application to be better used in an accessible Internet format. 7 pgs.
