: This paper examined the religion of Jains, and its contemporary role in the United States, tracing its evolution and origin to Indian immigrants; many of whom are concentrated in the West Coast area of California. Jains serve social, educative and religious functions. Their core beliefs and religious tenets were also discussed The paper also pointed among others, the misconception of Jains in America, and the resulting stereotyping which grew since the world trade center attacks in New York.
